I miss Johnston, but at least I understood from the get-go that Jake was the town hero and star of the show, and that story arc can't continue with Johnson in the way... sad but necessary, although the show shouldn't be ABOUT Jake's hero status, it should be about the mystery of his past and future as well as Hawkins' past and future, separate and whatever he and Jake can do together as a team. Dale and Skyler need to get their comeuppance (killed off by flesh hunters next Winter works for me.) The writers need to seriously tighten up their use of soap. No more BBQs or lame holiday decorating or entire shows pairing off all the principle cast members. Action, grit, sci-fi that makes you think, and anything MYSTERIOUS between Hawkins and Jake are this show's bread and butter, treat the main theme with a little respect, and PLEASE don't even THINK of taking another haitus. Gail Green needs to rinse and repeat. She's got soap bubbles coming out all major bodily orifices.

I miss April, it could have been real interesting what was happening between her and Eric. Eric's character could really only be interesting in growth as a real man to the town, a real brother to Jake and real husband to April, not being a wuss and tool for Mary, the town bar wench slash home wrecker. Stanley and Mimi are just fun - great chemistry. Would be okay with me if mutual soap-bubbles, Bonnie and Sean could maybe have some sort of farming accident though. Lawman Jimmy needs to earnestly die trying to be his limited definition of a town hero/good guy before he annoys me to death. The entire Hawkins family is great. Watching their relationships change and grow has been a highlight, for sure.

Emily and Heather... (and Maggie) Hrmph. Maggie needs to be run over by a slow-moving tank, there was NO REASON for Jake to fall for her like he did. Emily needs to define herself by something other than the men in her life. I guess that leaves Heather by default, who is a lot less boring than she thinks she is anyway! I don't miss Gracie... or do I? She was fun to hate actually and besides, her character going left the door wide open for this Dale transformation nonsense. I don't miss Roger (does anybody?) I like Jonah and am always interested to see what he's going to do next. Even bad guys have their good parts and he portrays that pretty well I think.

Rinse some soap off this thing.
Let Heather win.
Let Mary lose, or hook up with Jonah or something, heh.
Let Dale, Skyler, Bonnie, Sean, Jimmy and Gail out of their contracts.
Let the Hawkins Family survive and thrive.
Let Emily become a spinster school marm (c'mon just this once?)
Let Stanley and Mimi continue to be "Stimi" and make babies.

Episode Name Episode Morse Code Episode Notes

3 Four Horsemen JERICHO THREE As the community copes with the aftermath of the radio-active rain,  Jake proposes search parties leave town to learn more after seeing a news clip showing much of the country under siege.
4 Walls of Jericho HE KNOWS ROB The mystery surrounding Rob Hawkins deepens as a co-worker of his shows up with lethal radiation burns trying to give Hawkins a warning before dying while the town starts experiencing life-threatening resource shortages.
5 Federal Response THERE IS A FIRE When power is suddenly restored, all the phones all ring with a message that leaves people realizing they're going to be on their own.  Jake and Hawkins both become aware that the other is probably not who they appear to be or say they are.
6 9:02 THE EMP HITS An EMP knocks out all the power again, this time damaging everything with a circuit board to boot, plunging the town backwards from any progress they had hoped for although Jake and Hawkins' relationship is progressing and mystery as well as trust is building between them.
7 Long Live the Mayor PRAY FOR NYC Gray returns horrified by what's going on outside of Jericho and determined to be Jericho's savior by running for Mayor against Jake's father, who hasn't been out of town as he's been ill.  Mysteries surrounding Jake's past with Emily's father Jonah deepen as Hawkins comes under suspicion for being the "new guy in town".
8 Rogue River ROB NOT FBI Jake and his wishy-washy brother Eric take a risky trip to Rogue River Hospital for life-saving medicine for their father.  They run into trouble in the form of Ravenwood, an out of control military contractor/mercenary group.  They're lucky to get back to town in time to save their father.  Hawkins deals with the townspeople's suspicions of his history and identity.
9 Crossroads 1ST SURPRISE The Ravenwood mercenaries follow Jake and Eric thanks to Eric dropping his ID and all hell breaks loose as the townspeople start to realize how vulnerable they are.  We learn a bit more about Emily and the life she would have been leading had the bombs not come.
10 Red Flag IT BEGINS WITH Air dropped relief supplies are viewed with a mixture of relief and suspicion as the townspeople start to get edgy with one another over resources.  This plays into Gray's hands to make it look more like the town needs him for Mayor.  Jonah tries to take some relief supplies for his own benefit and it's up to Jake to try to reason with him.
11 Vox Populi 6 AND ENDS WITH When Gracie Leigh is murdered, Gray decides on his own that it was Jonah who did it and hauls him in but doesn't have the guts to stand behind his actions when put to the test by non other than Jonah's old cohort, Jake.
11b Recap Special
12 The Day Before BLOODSHED What were Jake and Hawkins up to 36 hours before the bombs is shown as well as their different routes to Jericho.  We're introduced to both Emily's fiancé Roger as well as Hawkins' girlfriend and co-worker Sarah.
13 Black Jack BLEEDING KS A trip to the Black Jack trading post for windmill parts shows just how unprepared the people of Jericho are for the realities of the present outside world and they're lucky to make it back alive.  Heather leaves for New Bern at show's end, presumably to build a windmill.
14 Heart of Winter 4 DOWN 4 TO GO Jake, Stanley and Mimi are attacked while out on a hunting trip and Mimi has to get brave and save the day.  Meanwhile Hawkins realizes his family's in grave danger and he's running out of time to do much about it.
15 Simper Fidelis THEY WILL NEED IT The marines supposedly come to town to the great relief of all and while Jake develops a fast crush, along with his dad he soon realizes all is not as it seems with the marines and must devise a plan to get the renegades out of town without deflating the hopes of the townspeople.  Hawkins discovers something unsettling about Sarah.
16 Winter's End A COSTLY DEAL Something goes horribly wrong with Eric's estranged wife's pregnancy.  Hawkins tries to cover up Sarah Mason's death only to find out all the suspicion this time was about a mysterious man she had killed who wanted Hawkins terminated as much as she did, but first, another mysterious group uses her to get at Hawkin's unexploded bomb.
17 One Man's Terrorist ROB EXPOSED Thanks to Gray, a crises develops concerning all the refugees Roger brought home and Roger ends up accidentally shooting him while holding him hostage.  The end result is that it's Roger who ends up banished and the refugees get to stay.  Meanwhile Hawkins loses his family while starting his hunt for those hunting him.
18 A.K.A. WHO RAN RED BELL Jake and Hawkins have a showdown about who Hawkins really is and what he knows.  We also flashback to when Hawkins met Sarah and we learn about Project Red Bell and the missing war head in the hands of extremist cells active within the US.  Jakes gets a look at Hawkins' bomb for the first time.
19 Casus Belli ONE GOT AWAY New Bern sends some windmills back to Jericho as well as the townsmen sent to build them, minus Eric who they say is missing.  Jake smells trouble and takes off to find out what's going on with Hawkins.  "Casus Belli" is Latin for "cause for war" (between Jericho and New Bern) and what they find in New Bern certainly qualifies as that.
20 One If by Land WE PLEDGE Thanks to Dale and Skyler's attempts at being adults (these two need to be locked up for the good of the town, I swear) a fight erupts at the salt mine when a deal gets out of hand.  Maggie the liar isn't dead yet but I don't trust her any more than Constantino does.
21 Coalition of the Willing ALLEGIANCE New Bern attacks, Gray is useless (duh), Johnston is not useless (duh), Darcy and Hawkins reunite (yay!), Jonah helps Jericho fighters stay alive but he takes the much needed spoils of war for himself.  Hawkins makes up for it by revealing yet another of his secrets... his huge cache of weapons.
22 Why We Fight TO THE FLAG The battle with New Bern continues to heat up, with Jericho residents out-manned and out-gunned, but not outsmarted, thanks to Hawkins' technology and Johnston's war smarts.  As Hawkins and Darcy continue to tighten up their relationship, she figures out his bomb signature gives away who's behind the attacks.  Looks like Johnston dies in the end, where the series was initially cancelled, too bad, he was one of my favorite characters.
