2003 Isole e Olena Chianti Classico
I haven't been very adventurous! I got into Chilean cab-sav once upon a time and
I just didn't try anything that new and exciting for the longest time, but now I
have and I've been richly rewarded! I ended up with a half-bottle of this
chianti because I needed a spare half bottle for leftover wine and I liked this
bottle best. Never mind that it was $20 for the half and a full bottle is only
$15-$20 all over the web (Typical Canadian mark-up, bah! I'm used to it but it
still hurts!)
Anyway - Wow - really exciting, unexpected and a new love! We loved the pepper
and deep complex fruits of the initial bite that arrived at mid-palette in such
a luxurious and balanced state that it literally floated - lifted right up off
my tongue like a cloud rising and the finish? By the time you realize you've
arrived at the finish, you can't quite remember if it was a whisper or a dream,
you just know it was wonderful. I've never experienced anything quite like it.
Guess I'll go on a chianti jag now. True love #2! |
