Decided to give the Alpha a try as we couldn't scrounge up another bottle of the award-winning 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon.  Well okay, Eduardo, the product manager at Montes actually personally invited me to try it during an email exchange we were having about his Cabernet Sauvignon wines and just exactly how to pronounce Montes (he advised Mon-TEZ) so we gave it a try.

It was okay.  Might have been nice to do a side-by-side compare, but from memory I'd say the Alpha was a little fruitier and livelier with deep oak notes and not as much pepper on the finish.  I just didn't like it as much.
