Much more complex than what I expected in a chianti really. A very pleasant velvet start and a satisfyingly smooth finish are interrupted by an almost overpowering mid-taste of strong alcohol.

Opened up nice enough though and surprised me with it's deep tones and nuances. A bit more than I'm looking for in a chianti perhaps but good wine.

Might do best paired with something other than Italian food... meaning something less acidic. Can't say I'm in love with it, and that's what I'm always looking for in a wine... love, for I'm a wine romantic at heart.

90% Sangiovese, 10% Merlot, which I think possibly over-softens it?
