We worked quite a bit on this little kitchen to make it as nice as we can for the amount of space it is.  NOT EASY but it's coming along.  Next up will be granite countertop, but we're in no particular hurry.  We've slowly been improving the kitchen all along and it's considered a work-in-progress.  Probably need to replace the white microwave, which we got before we made the decision to go with high-end stainless, but that's not a biggie.

Following are the early shots and comments from the beginning:

I'm sorry I can't think of anything to say here expect IT'S VERY TINY and I haven't worked out how to even maneuver around in it alone much less when we're trying to do something together, which we were quite used to doing while working on our gourmet food and wine "candlelight soirées" à la Hyacinth Bucket... (pronounced Bouquet, LOL!)

Click here to see the new light fixture.  We're planning on slowly replacing all of the major appliances as they appear to be pretty old, including replacing that nasty vent hood with a microwave vent hood.  Also since there's so little of it, it wouldn't cost that much to get super high quality countertops.  I'll probably drag my heels about that though, because I like the cabinets, and they'd probably have to be replaced too or the new counter would make them look bad.

2006 Update - Did a bit of work on the kitchen (finally) here's a preliminary before/after.  We're putting stainless door inserts in the fridge next week, so this is just a temporary update.

Some detail shots of kitchen renos.

Some things done so far include: drywall repair at ceiling and corner joins (thanks to that Seattle earthquake a couple years ago combined with very suspect installation to begin with), decorative vent cover in stainless, stainless fridge door inserts added, over-stove microwave added, another coat of fresh green paint on walls, softer white paint on cabinets, replaced all outlets and switches with 'rocker' style, removed backing plates off cabinet hardware to give a fresher look, straightened out base cabinet units to make square again, re-silicon all counter joins, replaced under cabinet lighting and hardwired it to wall switches.  Not a lot of money, but quite a bit of work.  A very satisfying upgrade!
